Welcome to the 21st Century

Well, we've taken our technology up a huge notch this year. We are wireless in our motor home thanks to "Virgin Mobile" technology. The wireless 3G hub is about the size of a credit card and it magically gives you a wireless connection wherever you are. So, as we are driving the first few hours of our trip, I can give you an update on our blog.

While it is really fun to have the ability to stay connected, one primary goal of our trip is to get "unconnected," too. We are bringing lots of outdoor equipment - bikes, kayak (borrowed from our friends Lynn and Tim), and a wind surfer. So we look forward to spending lots of time playing outside away from phones and computers!

We left at about 5 p.m. on a beautiful winter afternoon - we had hoped to leave a little earlier but realistically, we had so many things to get organized and transported out to our "home on wheels." We are driving about 4 hours to Cedar Falls, Iowa where we are staying with Gary and Linda, Greg's brother and our sister-in-law.

It's great to get underway after all the weeks of anticipation!

  1. So cool you got the wifi and can stay connected. That makes it all the more fun! And you can use it or not use it at your own discretion. Would love to do what you two are doing! What a great adventure!
